Spaghetti Art!

We had spaghetti last night for dinner which Bennett loves!  We always strip him down to his diaper when we eat spaghetti because it is messy and gets everywhere, but last night it was more then usual.  After every bite he rubbed his belly and took the mess to a new level!

Uh oh!

What!? Is there something on my face?

We took him straight upstairs for a bath after dinner.  Dinner time is always interesting with Bennett!

Picture Day!

Today was picture day at Bennett's school.  When I went to pick him up the teacher said that Bennett's picture turned out really cute.  I cannot wait to see them!!!  He also had another great day at school, so I think we have finally turned a corner.  His teacher said that he will cry for the first 30 seconds after I leave then he is fine.  Today I accidentally left his lunch in the car, so after I dropped him off I ran back out to get it and by the time I came back I peeked in his classroom and he was already playing and having fun.  I am beyond relieved and happy that he is enjoying himself.

Here are a few pictures from our week.  We have had a busy week full of play dates, school, and lots of play time outside.

Snack time on the counter (this is becoming a daily occurrence after Bennett's nap)

He loves eating his snack on the counter!

Ella came over and helped me wake up Bennett...how cute are they!?

Popsicle time after dinner

Popsicle and bubbles equals a fun time!

This morning when Bennett woke up I went in to get him and he handed me his pajama pants.  Little stinker had taken off his pants, but luckily he left his diaper on!  I might have to put him back in zip up pajamas if he continues to undress in the middle of the night!

Another Dr. Visit and Trains

Pop Pop and Bennett

Cute picture of my dad and Bennett from last night.  My dad watched Bennett for us so we could go to our niece Carder's baby dedication at church.  The baby dedication service was held at night and since it is an hour away for us we decided to leave Bennett at home so we didn't have to worry about a melt down from him since it would have been past his bed time.  He was also running another fever yesterday!  I took him to the doctor again today and it turns out he just has a bad cold and luckily today we have been fever free so he can go to school tomorrow.  I am glad Pop Pop was able to be with him last night and give him a few extra cuddles.  It was great being able to see sweet Carder.  She is getting so big and I have missed her, so I am glad we got some time with her last night.

Today after the doctor and Bennett's nap we played outside with bubbles and sidewalk chalk.  After we played we came inside so I could start dinner.  My plan for dinner turned out to be a lot more involved then I realized.  I didn't pay close enough attention to the recipe before I bought the ingredients and had planned to make it.  I usually cook more difficult things on the weekends while Jeremy entertains Bennett.  What made my involved dinner even more annoying was that it wasn't even all that good.  It didn't taste bad, but for the effort it wasn't really great.  Oh well guess that is what happens when you try out new recipes!

Oh Bubbles!

Very interested in what Mommy was cooking

After dinner Bennett had a fun surprise from Jeremy.  Last night Jeremy's parents gave us all of Jeremy's old trains and train tracks that he played with as a kid.  These are big metal trains and a lot different then Bennett's Thomas trains.  He was so excited when Jeremy put it all together.  He kept yelling "choo choo" as the trains went around the track.  Bennett LOVES trains!!!!

So excited!

Whoa!!

saying choo choo!

En Francias?

Bennett has started speaking French!  Just kidding we are still working on English over here!  He is starting to sound french though because when he says The it sounds like Le.  Now when he says The Car it sounds like Le Car or Le Ball.  Sounds very funny!!  Oui Oui little buddy :)

He also has been saying Go Dawgs all day and Touchdown and doing the hand motions for both!  Such a little genius.  I can't get him to say Please and Thank You very often, but my boy knows his football lingo!

Date Night with Dad

Last night Bennett's school had an event called Date Night with Dad.  All of the dad's took their kids to the school and they had pictures, crafts, and food.  I love that they have a night just for dads and the crafts they made were so cute!  Bennett had made a couple of things while in school that were a total surprise for Jeremy and then they also colored another picture last night.  I can't wait to see the picture that was taken of the two of them.  I am glad that Jeremy and Bennett were able to get some quality time together and I was able to grab dinner with some friends so this Mama got a nice evening to herself which is much needed every once in a while.

The boys before their night at school

Bennett also had a great day at school yesterday!!!  We talk all about school every morning and I will continue to do this because it seems to get Bennett excited to go.  We also talk about not fussing while at school and that Mommy will always come back to get him.  Yesterday Bennett did not want to walk into school he wanted to be carried so I did carry him.  I don't want to push him too much.  When we got to his class he started to get fussy and I told him it was ok and to have fun which seemed to calm him down until we walked into class and then he started screaming!  When I picked him up he was on the playground playing and having fun and his teachers said he only cried for the first 10 minutes but after that was great.  They told me he was helpful and anything they asked him to do he said "ok".  His report for the day was cheerful, playful, and happy!!!  I am just praying this continues and he starts to enjoy school more and more!

Happy Boy!

Team Spirit Day

Today at Bennett's school they had Team Spirit Day.  Everyone was supposed to wear their favorite teams shirt, jersey, or whatever showed off their team.  Of course Bennett was sporting his Georgia gear today and he looked very cute!!!

So Cute!

Excited to wear his GA shirt to school!

Bennett has been having a hard time at school lately.  His first day of school was no problem but I guess now he knows what to expect when we get there so it is a bit more challenging.  We talked all about school this morning and we do this every morning to get him excited.  As soon as I pulled in the parking lot today he yelled "School" and was happy to be there.  Once they open the doors to go in he starts getting timid and as soon as we get to his classroom he is screaming his head off. The teacher said today was a better day for him, so I am praying he continues to do better and will start to have fun.  I think my boy is just going to take more time to warm up to new situations and that is ok.  He is also teething right now and is having some congestion from allergies so I also think that is contributing to him being a bit more fussy.  I know he will come around soon!

After school Bennett napped which he is always ready for after a day at school.  When he got up he wanted to color.  He loves Curious George so I pulled out his Curious George coloring book but not much was colored.

Reading through his coloring book :)

Then he spilled every crayon on the floor

Helping Mommy clean up his mess

Here's hoping to a better school day Thursday and every day from here on out!

Good Friends

I consider myself very lucky when it comes to the friends I have in my life.  One of my best friends since I was 15 years old sadly moved to San Antonio 2 years ago.  She came in town this week for a visit with her cute little daughter Leighton.  My friend Kim also came into town from Charlotte, so it was great all of us finally being together.  Last night we were able to get together for a girls night out.  It was so nice being able to catch up without being distracted by kids.  Today we had a play date at my house.  Bennett was in school and so were Sari's girls but it was nice being able to get together again.  The babies slept most of the time so we got a lot of good time to catch up.  Today Leanne was able to come over too with the birthday girl Collins.  She turned one today!  Leanne is another friend that I have been best friends with since we were 12!  I really love that I have been close to my friends for so long.  All of the girls that were over today we have at least known each other since high school and have always stayed in touch.  The good thing is today isn't the last day we are all getting together we have more things planned this weekend!  Here are some cute pictures of the sweet babies today.

I can't wait to see everyone again this weekend and get all of the kids together again!

21

My baby is 21 months now!  We are still working on our communication skills and this is something I pray gets better soon, very soon.  The tantrums are killing me!  Today was a school day for Bennett. According to his teacher he started out sad, but became very playful as the day went on.  When I went in to pick him up today he was playing and didn't notice me right away.  As soon as he noticed me he held up the toy he was playing with to show me and said "Oh Wook" (wook means look)!  Then he ran over for me to pick him up.  I love that he gets so excited when I pick him up.  He took a nap when we got home then when he woke up we played outside.  This weather is too amazing to stay inside.

Trying to blow bubbles

Today while we were playing outside Bennett wanted to come back inside which is not normal usually he throws a fit when we go back inside.  When we came in he walked over to where I keep the bubbles and I asked him if he wanted bubbles and he said his version of yes.  He played non stop with bubbles while we were outside.  I guess next time I will make sure the bubbles are outside for him to play with.

Ugh...Dinner

This is how I am starting to feel when dinner time rolls around.  Bennett eats great at breakfast but most days it is a slow decline from there.  Lunch is usually ok, but there are some days he doesn't eat much.  Then dinner comes and he rarely wants to eat what I serve him.  We are feeding him what I cook for Jeremy and myself instead of making a "kid friendly" meal and sometimes he loves it but most times he does not.  I make sure he has a vegetable at dinner every night and 9 times out of 10 that goes uneaten.  Right before Bennett got sick we were turning a corner and he was eating more vegetables and making an effort to eat his dinner.  When he was sick I was mainly feeding him crackers since he didn't want to eat anything else so I feel like any headway we were making was undone.

Last night at dinner I had made a very yummy Asian Noodle dish.  Bennett took one look and decided he was going to have no part and pushed his chair back.  Well he pushed so hard that the chair kept going backwards and hit the floor while Bennett was strapped into his booster seat.  Of course he hit his head so there were lots and lots of tears.  Needless to say he didn't eat dinner.  Tonight the same, he ate a couple bites then was over it.  I am going to continue to be consistent and offer him healthy food options and hopefully one day he will come around.  He used to eat all of these things before, but recently he has stopped.  His pediatrician warned me about this happening but he told me to not give up and to keep offering him vegetables and healthy food, so that is what I will do.  Luckily he likes fruit so I can get him to eat that, just need to work on those veggies!  If Bennett had it his way he would live off of goldfish crackers, yogurt, and grapes.  Heres hoping dinner goes better tomorrow night!

Someone is finally feeling better...

FINALLY we are fever free!!!  Yesterday and today have been so much better and Bennett has slept great the past two nights.  He has even gifted us by sleeping in the last two mornings, so we have all been able to catch up on our sleep.  Today has been so rainy but we had a great day as a family.  Tomorrow Jeremy is back to work and Bennett will be able to go to school.  Now I am hoping we can stay germ free for a while!

GOOOO Dawgs!

Today is probably Jeremy's favorite day of the year which means the start of college football and the Georgia season.  Since Bennett is still sick we have stayed in all day.  I took him to the pediatrician yesterday and they checked him for strep and hand, foot, and mouth since that was going around his school but he didn't have either, turns out he has a virus.  Today has been a lot better.  His temperature has been much lower and I can tell he feels better.  He had a rough night last night so I am praying tonight is better for all of our sakes. We haven't been up with him like that in so long that I forgot how hard it is to be up throughout the night.  Since the GA game doesn't come on until 8 tonight poor Bennett has to miss the first game since he is already in bed.  He was asking to go down around 6!  Here's hoping the Dawgs can pull out a win tonight!!!  And here's hoping I can stay awake since I got very little sleep last night...I am drinking coffee now to help perk me up.

We hung out outside this morning while Jeremy did yard work

In his GA gear.  Poor baby was tired!

Precious :)

Tomorrow we are going to stay in again instead of spending the afternoon with friends at a cookout.  Even if Bennett wakes up with no fever (which I am praying he does) we will lay low just to give him another day to rest and make sure it is out of his system for good.  So here's hoping for a win by the dawgs, a night of uninterrupted sleep, and a fever free boy in the morning!

Poor baby :(

Bennett woke up yesterday with a fever of 102.1.  He was a pitiful little guy all day and his temperature stayed around the 102-103 range.  Last night around 6 he started falling asleep while sitting with me on the couch so we went ahead and put him to bed.  He had a bit of a rough night sleeping and woke up once when his fever broke and then another time when he had the chills because his fever had gone back up.  Today started out better he woke up with no fever and it was 98.6 now he is back up to 101.6.  He had to miss school today because of being sick so he has yet to go to school a full week since we were out of town last week.  Hopefully next week will be better!!

Sweet baby fell asleep while laying with me on the couch yesterday morning

He spent most of his day on the couch with Elmo and Monkey

Eating some grapes and that is about all he ate

He still doesn't have much of an appetite but has more energy and is playful today. I hope he can get a good night of sleep tonight and wake up feeling like himself tomorrow morning!
